Luminaria

A studio for digital places.

Luminaria: opening screen

01The brief

A studio wanted a site that felt like walking into its work: not a grid of thumbnails but a place. The ask was a real-time world with the calm of a film that a first-time visitor could simply scroll into, and a presentation layer that made the whole thing feel authored, not generated.

02What we built

Luminaria is a studio site built as a place rather than a page. A prelude of chrome leaves in a storm, sound-reactive, tilting with the phone, resolves through a liquid-glass lens into one continuous camera: a moonlit forest, a pond with a lily that opens as you scroll, a root channel, a pearl-sand coast under the aurora. The scene is authored in Blender and scrubbed in the browser; depth of field, moonlight, a fluid cursor with a thin-film wake, and a generated score follow the journey. Your light has a colour: the hue you arrive with is carried by the ring, the pearl and the heart of the world, and the returning storm leans toward it.

  • Real-time forest, pond and coast in Three.js, reflections, instanced grass, analytic sea, 115 shore stones
  • Blender-authored camera scrubbed by scroll; match cut from the prelude leaf to the world’s leaf
  • Liquid-glass lens, depth of field, moonlight and a post grade shared by prelude and world
  • Sound that changes with each chapter, tilt on phones, a reduced-motion edition, and a plain-text version when WebGL is off

03Where it stands

Live at luminaria.nextia.studio. The world, the prelude, the sound and the remembered light are finished and verified on desktop, phone and reduced motion; a composed score is the one thing still to come.
